Fire Outbreak Hits Federal Secretariat in Abuja, Government Launches Investigation
The Federal Government has started a full investigation after a fire outbreak occurred on Monday morning at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase II in Abuja.
According to officials from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), the fire started in the early hours of the day and affected the 4th floor of Block C, where the National Board for Technology Incubation is located.
In a statement released by Mrs. Eno Olotu, Director of Press and Public Relations at the OHCSF, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation confirmed that authorities will investigate the incident to determine the exact cause of the fire and prevent similar situations in the future. The investigation will also check the structural condition of the affected building.
Emergency protocols in the building were immediately activated once the fire was discovered. Personnel from the Federal Fire Service and other emergency agencies quickly responded to the scene.
Their swift response helped contain the fire before it could spread to other parts of the complex.
Officials also confirmed that no casualties were recorded, as staff members working on the affected floor were safely evacuated without any injuries.
Meanwhile, precautionary measures have been put in place to secure the affected area while authorities carry out a detailed assessment to determine the level of damage caused by the fire.
During an on-the-spot inspection of the scene, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, praised the Federal Fire Service and other emergency responders for their quick and professional handling of the situation.
She reiterated that the safety of civil servants and visitors to government offices remains a top priority.
