Fiona Ahimie Emerges CIS President

Fiona Ahimie has been elected as the 14th President and Chairman of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), becoming the first woman in the Institute’s history to hold the position.

Her election marks a major milestone for gender inclusion and leadership representation in Nigeria’s financial services sector.

She is set to succeed Oluropo Dada and will be formally inaugurated on June 25, 2026, when her tenure officially begins.


Outgoing President Speaks on Her Leadership

Outgoing CIS President, Oluropo Dada, expressed strong confidence in Ahimie’s ability to lead and build on existing achievements.

“Fiona Ahimie brings proven expertise, strong leadership, and a clear vision for the Institute’s future. I am confident she will build on the progress made and further strengthen the Institute’s role in the financial services sector.”

Her emergence also reflects the Institute’s structured leadership process, having previously served as:

  • 2nd Vice President
  • 1st Vice President

Following her elevation:

  • Akeem Oyewale becomes 1st Vice President
  • The position of 2nd Vice President will be announced later

Key Achievements Under Dada’s Leadership

During the Institute’s 31st Annual General Meeting held in Lagos, Dada highlighted major milestones achieved during his tenure:

  • Implementation of the Corporate Strategic Plan (2024–2030)
  • Upgrade of CIS Diploma to Certified Securities and Investment Support Specialist (CSISS)
  • Increased media visibility and restructuring of the Secretariat
  • Progress on the CISIN Bill
  • Successful hosting of the 2025 National Workshop in Abuja

He also noted improvements in:

  • Funding and financial stability
  • Debt recovery
  • Stakeholder engagement across the industry

Fiona Ahimie’s Experience and Background

Fiona Ahimie brings over 15 years of experience in the financial services sector.

She currently serves as Managing Director of First Securities Brokers Limited, a subsidiary of First Holdco Plc.

Her career includes senior roles at:

  • LeadCapital
  • Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers
  • FBNQuest Capital
  • African Alliance Securities Nigeria

Her expertise covers:

  • Trading
  • Client development
  • Market strategy

She holds:

  • An MBA from Lagos Business School
  • A diploma from IESE Business School, Spain

She is also:

  • A Fellow of CIS
  • An Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)
