Nigerian troops under Operation Fansan Yamma have intensified operations against bandits in Kaduna State, killing two suspected bandits, arresting four others, and recovering rustled livestock, weapons, motorcycles, and electronic devices.
The operations, carried out between June 20 and 21, followed credible intelligence on cattle-rustling activities. Troops intercepted fleeing suspects, leading to a gun battle that ended with two bandits killed and stolen livestock recovered.
In separate operations, security forces arrested four additional suspects, including two believed to be bandit scouts. Authorities also recovered communication devices and digital materials said to contain evidence linking the suspects to banditry and terrorist activities.
Meanwhile, troops restored calm in Mararraba, Kaduna State, after a mob killed a woman accused of child trafficking. The unrest led to attempts to block a major highway before security personnel dispersed the crowd and secured the area.
Military authorities praised the troops for their successful operations and reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling criminal networks and improving security across Nigeria’s North-West.
